Chet Dyson
Chief Executive Officer & Cofounder
As the CEO with over 12 years of experience, Chet Dyson is not only a former CEO of various Alaskan-based solar companies but also a co-founder of The Solar Company, showcasing his pioneering spirit in the renewable energy sector. He expertly balances his professional responsibilities with his personal life as a devoted husband, father, and basketball coach. Chet dedicates his free time to volunteering at his local church, cheering on his children at their sports games, and contributing his expertise on the board of Refuge, a nonprofit organization committed to making a difference in the community.
Kanu Kalola
Chief Tech Officer & Cofounder
Kanu Kalola, the Chief Tech Officer at Genius Energy, has over 12 years in the renewable energy sector. He owns Solar Zone, partners in EYCLABS, and co-founded and leads commercial sales at Genius Energy. His expertise includes integrating technology for clients, continuously improving skills, and playing cricket.
Randall Kohutek
Chief Operations Officer
Randall Kohutek, COO at Genius Energy, directs operations with strategic vision and meticulous attention. Formerly a Project Manager at F3 & Associates and a Plano, Texas police officer, he transitioned to renewable energy, excelling as a Project Manager at The Solar Company. Recognized for performance, he rose to Chief Construction Officer. Now leading Genius Energy, Randall brings expertise and commitment. Beyond work, he cherishes family, fitness, basketball, and church involvement. A Liberty University business graduate, he combines skills and experience for operational excellence.
Landon Keen
Chief Incentive Officer
As the Chief Incentive Officer, Landon is responsible for grant research and bringing in federal funding to Genius’ clients. Working closely with state and federal officials, Landon ensures that each project is fully funded while specializing in rural and underdeveloped communities. Prior to joining genius, Landon worked in Washington D.C. where he was employed by the House of Representatives, as well as contracted by the Department of Energy. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University and a master’s degree from Georgetown University. In his spare time, Landon volunteers at the Dallas Children's Hospital and serves at Watermark Church.
Monty Dyson
Logistics Manager
The Logistics Manager at Genius Energy, Monty Dyson, has 20 years of experience in logistics and procurement through his service in the military. He manages material procurement and oversees warehouse operations for both commercial and residential facilities. A family man and hunting enthusiast, Monty also dedicates time to church and enjoys lawn care, raising chickens, and traveling back to Alaska to see his grandkids.
Preston Mathis
Master Electrician
Serving as the Master Electrician at Genius Energy, Preston Mathis has 8 years of experience in renewable energy. Licensed and responsible for residential electrical operations, he also supervises electrical work at Genius Energy. A former Tesla employee, Preston is a father of two who loves hunting and camping.
Doug Lacanilao
Head of Operations for Commercial Projects
Doug Lacanilao, the Head of Operations for Commercial Projects, manages all commercial aspects at Genius Energy. With 7 years in the renewable energy sector and experience in the Alaskan oil fields at BP and Conoco, Doug is an expert in safety protocol and hazardous materials. He aspires to retire in Scotland and enjoys spending time with his family and outdoor activities in Alaska.

As the Head of Operations for Residential Projects at Genius Energy, Lee Casey brings over a decade of experience, having worked at Solar City, Icon Power, and other notable firms. His responsibilities encompass overseeing design, operations, and installations. Outside of work, Lee is a dedicated husband and father of three, with a passion for fishing and cooking.
